Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) called on Democrats during a May 4 town hall to take aggressive legal actions against President Donald J. Trump after the November election, according to an audio file of the event obtained by FOIAzona.
Ansari, who represents the state’s third congressional district, hosted the town hall through her government office.
During the event, she called for Trump’s removal via the 25th Amendment, accused “pretty much all of his senior Cabinet members” of “committing impeachable offenses almost quite literally on a daily basis,” and pledged that, “when we [Democrats] are in the majority, we will have subpoenas flying out every day to hold Trump and his family, who have been committing crimes … accountable.”
Ansari also urged Congress to start “charging big oil companies a tax on extra profits because of the war” in Iran and said that she is working ‘to flip our state legislature” so that municipal governments can impose “rent caps” on property owners.
