Increasing transparency in Arizona through public records research

Clavicular arrested in Scottsdale (+ mugshot)

The popular Internet steamer Clavicular was arrested in Arizona late Saturday night on suspicion of using a fake ID.

Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, was taken into custody by the Scottsdale Police Department after an incident at Casa Amigos. He was booked into Scottsdale City Jail before being transferred to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and had his initial appearance in court Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman at Scottsdale PD told this blog that Mr. Peters was observed “gain[ing] access into Casa Amigos a little before 11:20 p.m. with a camera person and bodyguard” and that it was later determined through investigative means that he was “only 20 years old and not legally allowed to be inside.” While being searched, “two prescription-only pills were found in his possession, as well as some type of forged ID he allegedly used” to get into the nightclub.

The recommended charges listed in the booking information include possession of a forged instrument, use of a fake ID by a minor to enter a liquor establishment, and possession of dangerous drugs (prescription-only drugs).

Mr. Peters’ attorney told the court at his initial appearance: “Nothing in the Form IV, nothing that law enforcement had access to during this arrest, gave them any reason to believe that he used a fake ID to get into that establishment or that anybody said that he used a fake ID while he was at that establishment. Because of those two things, law enforcement did not have any probable cause in this case to place him under arrest—and, because they had no probable cause to place him under arrest for those two predicate offenses, they had nothing to establish that they had the right to search his person and that’s what ultimately gets them to what they are alleging to be illegal substances, prescription substances. They didn’t have any right in this case to place him under arrest.”

An AI-generated mugshot of Mr. Peters has been circulating on Twitter, but a copy of the real booking photograph can be found below:

More details about the case, including the decision by prosecutors, will come out soon. I will update this blog post when that information is available.

UPDATE (2/11/26): The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has dropped the felony charges against Mr. Peters, citing “no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”
